Who We Are

Non-partisan, independent of government, and reporting directly to the Legislative Assembly, the Office of the Auditor General conducts audits, reports on how well the government is managing its responsibilities and resources, and makes recommendations for continuous improvement.

The office is located in downtown Victoria, B.C. and employs approximately 120 people. The majority of our audit staff have professional accounting designations. Many have advanced degrees or certifications in business, education, environmental sciences, health care, information technology, law, project management, public administration and social sciences. The office is also a licensed Chartered Professional Accountant Training Office.

The current Auditor General is Michael A. Pickup, FCPA, FCA. In July 2024 he announced his retirement and his term as B.C.'s auditor general will conclude on November 15, 2024.
